Painted Floors–Inspiration

It is just about that time of year–time to paint the kitchen floors, that is. There has been a lot of chatter on blogs lately about painting floors. I have had a painted floor in almost every house I have lived in–since I have had my own floors to paint. I love them, can’t say enough nice things about them. The first painted floor I ever loved was by Mary McDonald. It was her kitchen floor painted with Hudson Bay blanket stripes in brown. Then I saw her gray and white zig-zag bathroom floor–I was inspired. The mountain kitchen floor will be painted in the next few weeks and I wanted to let you see my inspiration, and the decisions so far. We are using a circle and square design by Kevin Hawkins that was adapted from earlier designs. Hope you will check back to see the final results.

The Original size and colors–was too large and needed some punch.

The next attempt was the perfect size, but the black was a little too strong. Daisy was not happy with it at all.

Check back for the final color selections and the process in action.

  1. Everything is looking good! If it were me I would try a color from the counter top. Can’t wait to see the floor finished I know it will be beautiful! What is that sitting on the self underneath the counter top?

  2. Lissie! You are using the pattern for inspiration that I have for inspirations for my floors! I’m thinking about staining my floors and then painting on top of the stain before sealing! Can’t wait to see what you do! Girl after my own heart! Wish we lived closer! You would be one if my buddies for sure! Guess I’m just lucky to have you as an online buddy & see your fun from afar!
